The Oval Night Market: A Dispatch from Bethnal Green

Oval Night Market, Bethnal Green.

An area in constant flux, Bethnal Green has an exciting new addition to its late-night line-up. Throughout the summer on selected weekends, there has been a pop-up night market in The Oval off Hackney Road, in the shadow of the old gasworks.

There are craft stalls selling everything from jewellery to statement socks, a retro craft beer trailer, cocktails from the Mixology Brothers offering a summer appropriate menu with classics like Margaritas and Aperol Spritzes. Food is available too with Caribbean, Filipino BBQ, fried chicken, waffles, and even vegan cheese toasties.

There have already been three events this summer and with the final one due on the weekend of Friday 9th and Saturday 10th August, it will be your last chance to rock-up at this genuinely fun event.

With live DJ’s playing a mix of Soul, Funk and old-school Hip Hop, there’s a laid-back, unpretentious vibe. It’s family and dog friendly too, with the feel of a good old-fashioned street party. Best of all, it’s free entry! Come on down to the old East End, grab some fried chicken and a beer and have some fun in a truly unique setting.

Thanks for reading,

Terry.
